Jane Friedlander has had a full-time private tutorial practice for the past twelve years. She has worked one-on-one with over 145 elementary students - in Cambridge, MA, and more recently, the Upper Valley area. Jane enjoys working with children from a variety of backgrounds, including students who attend private and public schools, as well as those who are homeschooled.
Jane’s tutorial approach is twofold: to honor the emotional complexity of children, and to simplify concepts and skills in a way that children can grasp them. To understand “the whole child” she consults with parents, educators and referring psychologists to gain insight into individual strengths and weaknesses. Tutorials are designed to strengthen or remediate specific weaknesses in a child’s learning profile. Highly individualized curriculums target a range of academic issues as they arise. This one-on-one instruction incorporates a child’s particular interests and abilities, and allows for a sensitive approach to individual learning styles.
